It is a pattern that, like many abstractions, can be wielded naturally and intuitively and yet utterly defy explanation or description. All languages feature these kinds of words—signs that refer to some kind of an idea, as opposed to this or that object, or a particular manifestation of something.
I learned competition is the way of the Earth's inhabitants. I presume most others in the western paradigm have also learned such. So many videos of interspecies animal love, caring, life saving, friendship, adoption, show us that the competition story of the Earth - Darwin's theory of survival of the strongest - is not the truth.
Us humans appear shocked that co-operation occurs in the wild. We watch in amazement at these animals doing good deeds for each other. We share the heartwarming stories of animals doing 'bright' things. We've been taught animals are dumb, they don't learn, they are the lowest species.
It is because we don't know the truth. All species know things. But, humans don't know they know. Animals are taught love, survival, and sharing. Humans learn this, but lose it by the time they leave the education system. A couple hundred years ago humans began a new paradigm.
Humans don't know they are destructing. Humans think destruction is progression. Humans tell each other and themselves, "this is the new way of the world. This is how the world functions now.
Humans are competing and killing for resources. Humans tell each other how to think and behave. Humans invade the earth, each other, bodies, blow-up mountains, carve down forests, invade animals, modify plants, and even their own bodies.
Humans are disconnected from the very nature of the Earth and life. Humans tell each other to learn from examples of nature.
Humans try to un-do the learning they achieved before the education system took all their humanity away. Humans do what is done to them; farm, enslave, inflict pain. Humans don't know they are a farmed species. Humans don't know they are taken away from their very nature by the education system.
The truth is, 'survival comes from co-operation, sharing and giving. Unfortunately, Charles Darwin published something called 'Survival of the Strongest.
